Criminal complaint against Goa CM for hurting religious sentiments

INDORE: A city-based lawyer has filed a petition against chief minister of Goa, Manohar Parrikar in a local court in Indore for allegedly hurting the religious sentiment of Hindus. The court ordered the petitioner to come up with additional evidence to prove his complaint and record his statement on January 15 the next date of hearing.

Reportedly, the BJP Goa CM Manohar Parrikar in his statement at a book release function on December 18, had said that he used to keep mythological book Mahabharat in his toilet and read it there.

District court lawyer Mukesh Sethia, who filed the petition, said the statement of Parrikar disturbed and hurt religious sentiments of his family and friends. Sethia said he filed a petition against Goa CM under sections 153 A (hurting religious sentiment) and 295 A (dishonouring religious book) of IPC.
